This policy covers the course websites operated by Tim Laman Photography:

We measure how pages are used so we can improve them. Our own measurement stays on our own servers, holds no names, no email addresses, no IP addresses, and cannot be traced back to you. It forgets you when you close the tab.
We also run Meta (Facebook) advertising, and Meta's pixel does track individuals. You can turn that off with the Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link at the bottom of the page.
When you visit one of the pages listed above, our own analytics records:
Each visit is given a random identifier so that the pageviews within one visit can be counted as one visit. That identifier is stored in your browser's session storage, which means it is deleted when you close the tab. It is not a cookie, it does not follow you to other websites, and there is no way for us to connect two separate visits to the same person.
We do not store your IP address, your browser's user agent string, your name, or your email address in our analytics. If you arrive from a Facebook or Instagram ad, we record only that you came from an ad — the click identifier Meta attaches to the link is never saved.
This data is stored in our own database on Cloudflare's infrastructure and is not sold, shared, or made available to anyone outside Tim Laman Photography.
We sometimes show two versions of a page to see which one people find more
useful. To keep your experience consistent, the version you were shown is
remembered in a cookie called tla_u, which holds a random value
and nothing else. It tells us which version to show you. It does not identify
you.
Our pages include the Meta advertising pixel, which reports back to Meta that a visit or a purchase happened so that we can measure our advertising. Unlike our own measurement, Meta can and does connect this to your Facebook or Instagram account. This is governed by Meta's privacy policy. Use the opt-out link at the bottom of any page to stop it from loading.
Some of our pages use Microsoft Clarity to record how visitors move through the page — scrolling, clicking, and general navigation — so we can find layout problems. Clarity is run by Microsoft, and the data it collects is processed on Microsoft's systems under their privacy statement, not ours.
Clarity is set to strict masking. It records the shape and structure of the page and where you moved and clicked. It does not record the text you type or the text displayed to you. It does not run at all if you have opted out using the link at the bottom of the page or if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal.
Courses are hosted and sold on Thinkific, at
masterclass.timlaman.com. That site is operated by Thinkific
rather than by us, and what it loads is outside our control. When you buy a
course, your account
details and payment are handled by Thinkific and its payment processor under
Thinkific's privacy policy.
We receive the order — amount, product, and coupon code — and store it to
track revenue. Recent purchases may be shown on the page as a notification
containing only a first name and a time. That name is read
live from Thinkific when the page loads and is not stored in our analytics
database.
If you sign up for the free lesson, your email address is sent to Mailchimp so we can email it to you and send occasional follow-ups about the courses. You can unsubscribe from any email we send. Mailchimp's handling is covered by Intuit Mailchimp's privacy statement.
Opt out of tracking. Every page has a Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information link in the footer. Using it stops the Meta pixel and Microsoft Clarity from loading on your device.
Global Privacy Control. If your browser or an extension sends a GPC signal, we treat it as an opt-out automatically. You do not need to do anything else.
Browser storage. Clearing your browser's storage for these sites removes the visit identifier and the A/B testing cookie.
Email. Every email we send has an unsubscribe link. To have your email address deleted rather than unsubscribed, write to us at the address below.
These sites are operated from the United States and are aimed at a United States audience. We have not yet implemented the consent banner that the GDPR and the UK GDPR require before loading advertising trackers for visitors in those regions.
If you are in the EU or the UK and want your data removed, or want to know what we hold, write to office@timlaman.com and we will handle it. We are stating this plainly rather than implying a compliance we have not yet built.
These sites are not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Analytics records are kept so we can compare performance across seasons. Because they contain no personal identifiers, they cannot be linked back to an individual after the visit ends. Order records are kept as long as required for business and tax purposes.
If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it.
